OVERVIEW
The Whole Experience — Just Your Group
A private group experience with Álaind is exactly that: the full quality of Fergal’s guiding and Kerry’s landscape, without any other walkers sharing it. Your group sets the pace, chooses the level of challenge (with Fergal’s guidance) and gets the undivided attention of a qualified Mountain Leader who knows this landscape better than anyone.
Private groups can book a single guided day, a multi-day walking holiday, or anything in between. Accommodation at Álaind Lodge can be arranged for smaller groups; for larger parties, Fergal works with trusted local B&Bs and guesthouses to put together the right package.
If you want Kerry walking done properly, for your group alone — this is it.

WHAT WE CAN BUILD
What a Private Group Experience Can Include
One day. Your group. A route chosen specifically for your fitness level and interests, with Fergal guiding exclusively for you. Perfect for groups already staying in Kerry who want one expertly guided day.
Two, three, four nights — or more — based at Álaind Lodge in Sneem, with private guided walking days, meals and the full Álaind experience laid on for your group alone. The most immersive private group option.
A birthday milestone, an anniversary, a hen or stag walking day, a family gathering — Álaind has designed memorable walking experiences around all of these. Fergal will incorporate the occasion into the day, including choosing a route with the right view for a celebration stop.
An active team day with a real sense of achievement. Kerry’s mountains and coastline have a way of levelling hierarchy and opening up conversation that a hotel conference room cannot replicate. Fergal handles the guiding and logistics; you handle the team dynamics.
How it works
From Enquiry to Experience
Step 1 — Tell Fergal About Your Group
Group size, date range, fitness levels and what kind of experience you’re after. A WhatsApp message or email is all it takes to start.
Step 2 — Proposal
Fergal puts together a tailored proposal — routes, duration, accommodation options if needed and a clear price. No vague quotes.
Step 3 — Confirm & Prepare
Deposit to confirm the booking. Fergal sends a full preparation briefing — what to bring, where to meet, what to expect.
Step 4 — Arrive and Walk
Your group, your guide, Kerry’s landscape. Everything else is taken care of.

For guided walking, the standard maximum is 8 per guide. For larger groups, Fergal can arrange additional qualified guides to run parallel groups on the same route, ensuring everyone gets the same quality of experience. Contact Fergal to discuss your group size.
-
Yes — up to a point. Fergal is skilled at managing groups with a range of fitness levels and will pace the walk to bring everyone along comfortably. Where there are very significant differences in fitness within a group, he may suggest splitting into two paced groups. This is discussed at enquiry stage.
-
Álaind Lodge has a limited number of rooms, suitable for smaller groups. For larger parties, Fergal works with a network of trusted local B&Bs and guesthouses in and around Sneem. A full accommodation package can be arranged as part of your group booking.
-
Yes. Sneem and the surrounding area offer a good range of other activities — seaweed baths, cycling, kayaking, fishing and more. Fergal can suggest what works well alongside a walking programme and point you in the right direction.
-
Yes and it works very well. Walking in Kerry is a genuinely memorable hen or stag activity — something everyone talks about afterwards. Fergal designs the day around the group’s ability and the occasion, including a well-chosen celebration stop. No tutus required.
