Stay at Álaind Lodge, Sneem
Luxury B&B accommodation on the edge of Sneem village — the perfect base for walking the Ring of Kerry, exploring the Kerry Geopark and experiencing one of Ireland’s most beautiful corners at a proper pace.
ABOUT ÁLAIND LODGE
Your Base in the Heart of Kerry
Álaind — pronounced ‘All-ind’ — means beautiful place in old Irish. It’s an apt name for a B&B that sits on a quiet lane at the foot of the Dunkerron Mountains, on the edge of one of Kerry’s most picturesque villages.
Álaind Lodge is a relaxed, welcoming luxury B&B run by Fergal, Trish and Chris. Beautifully appointed ensuite rooms, a hearty breakfast each morning, outdoor seating areas to unwind in the evenings and a genuine local welcome that turns a guesthouse stay into something more like a home away from home. Sneem village — with its restaurants, traditional pubs, local shops and lively community — is a short walk away.
For guests on an Álaind walking holiday, the Lodge is where it all comes together: one boutique lodge, everything taken care of and Kerry’s finest walking routes accessible from the door or a short transfer away. For guests visiting Kerry independently, it’s a brilliant base for exploring the Ring of Kerry, the Kerry Way and everything the Iveragh Peninsula has to offer.
The Rooms
All Álaind Lodge rooms are ensuite and comfortably equipped for both leisure guests and walking holiday visitors — with the

THE LOCATION
Where We Are
Álaind Lodge sits on Sportsfield Road on the quiet edge of Sneem village, at the foot of the Dunkerron Mountains. The Loop walks start from the Lodge door. The village — with restaurants, pubs, shops and that distinctive Sneem atmosphere — is a pleasurable short walk away.
Sneem is located on the N70 Ring of Kerry Road, roughly at the midpoint of the Iveragh Peninsula — which makes it one of the best bases in Kerry for exploring both the northern and southern reaches of the Ring. Killarney is approximately one hour by road; Kenmare is 25 minutes.

SNEEM VILLAGE
Sneem — On Your Doorstep
Sneem is a small, vibrant village with considerably more going on than its size suggests. Colourful shopfronts, a handful of excellent restaurants and traditional pubs, local arts and crafts and a community that takes real pride in the place. It consistently ranks among Kerry’s most beautiful villages and spending an evening here, rather than driving back to Killarney, is one of the underrated pleasures of staying at Álaind Lodge.
The Kerry Geopark surrounds Sneem — an internationally recognised landscape of exceptional geological and ecological interest. Walking, cycling, fishing, water sports and stargazing (Kerry is an International Dark Sky Reserve) are all available locally. Fergal, Trish and Chris are happy to advise on what to do and where to go during your stay.
STAYING WITHOUT A WALKING HOLIDAY
Just Looking for a Great Kerry B&B?
Not everyone staying at Álaind Lodge is on a walking holiday and that’s absolutely fine. If you’re touring the Ring of Kerry, exploring the Wild Atlantic Way, visiting the Skellig Islands, or simply looking for a peaceful base in one of Ireland’s most beautiful areas, Álaind Lodge is a great choice.
You’ll get the same luxury ensuite rooms, the same hearty breakfast and the same warm welcome from Fergal, Trish and Chris. And if you want local advice on where to walk, eat, or explore during your stay, there’s no shortage of it.
WALKING FROM THE LODGE
Walk Right from the Door
One of Álaind Lodge’s most practical features for walkers: Sneem’s Red and White waymarked loop walks start directly from the Lodge. No car needed, no transfers — lace up, step outside and you’re on the trail.
Fergal can provide maps, a short briefing and walking poles for guests who want to tackle the loops independently. For guests who want a guide, the Wild Kerry Day Walking Escape runs most days from Álaind Lodge as the departure point.
